I am using this blog as an opportunity to document the day to day life of a pharmacy student. Since I graduate next year and this has been a thought of mine for a long time, this is the perfect time to make it happen!

Lab Day!!!
I was so excited to be in the lab finally. It has been a long time since I’ve done compounding, but you never forget your first love (or first pharmacy job in this case). The tech in charge probably needed to see what I could do before giving me more difficult orders, so I started with a few solutions. They were pretty beautiful, if I do say so myself. Then I moved on to capsules. Well, not quite. The way they do it is much different than what I’m used to. I remember at our pharmacy if we had a lot of caps to make, we would weigh out all of our powders, mix them in M&P with a bit of the dye to ensure even mixing, then if we had a bunch that day, we would Saran Wrap them and go in that order to fill them. At this pharmacy, they basically just weigh out all the powders, put them in a plastic bag, then keep the powder and order together until the capsule person gets to it. In my opinion, that creates a lot of opportunity for waste, but I’m just a nobody, so doesn’t matter haha (I know I’m not as nobody, but as far as this pharmacy is concerned, I am just the student). So I did that, then went to lunch. Came back and filled a few other things. The tech said Tuesdays she will be sending me home early since a) the boss isn’t there Tuesdays and b) she knows I need to be there mad early the next day. So once I filled the last few orders, she let me go home. Then I am pretty sure I came home and cut out more fabric for the quilt I am making and that’s it.
