First Day on the Floor

It was Monday morning and I was finally doing pharmacy stuff...after a couple of hours. Preceptor was still not there and the person training me didn’t get in until 11:30, so I read for a few hours until he got there. So I worked on the DME side of the store after 11:30. He was training me on the DME and how it is used for patients. Like how to measure people for compression hose, walkers, canes, etc. I also got to meet with the woman who runs the mastectomy boutique. It is incredible what she does. She meets with patients and helps them with wigs, make up, and prosthetics. I felt terrible because I was SO tired that I felt like I was falling asleep while she was talking, but we did that. I then had lunch and went back on the floor afterwards.

While on the floor, a patient and his daughter came in, ironically, for a walker. The man was older, but coherent, and their relationship was really adorable. The daughter was so happy to see her dad be so mobile in the walker. She then wanted a picture with us to send to someone. Idk man, I just do what I’m told. As we got to talking, she said how here dad has so many girlfriends and is kind of a sugar daddy. LMAO but those gears in my head sure were turning! We finished up a few training things and they sent me home for the day. Fun day, but tomorrow was finally my first day in the lab, so I was excited!
