HOLD ON FOR ONE MORE DAY!

Wednesday FINISH

After having to be up mad early to get to school at 8am, the morning schedule consisted of us working on this stupid portfolio that is apparently a requirement for graduation. It is honestly a waste of time...just let us keep our CV’s updated and move on with our lives. Well, that was scheduled to go for 4 hours. After talking about 2 hours about this, the teacher had to walk around and help a bunch of people because some of my classmates are not tech savvy. I had to stop myself there because I was gonna use the “R” word, because some of them are pretty clueless. That’s putting it nicely. So once my computer died because I couldn’t be bothered to bring my charger, we had lunch.

Once lunch was done, we had more talks from other professors. The one talk was about IRB’s. A lot of shit goes into that to even be able to do research...who fucking knew. Then the next was about the actual Capstone project. I’m about to go on a mini tangent/rant right now, so please bare with me. Now, the professor in charge of this was someone I had a lot of respect for during our 2nd year because she is a really great teacher and is always looking out for us. But as time went on, I saw the real her. She took about 20 of my classmates on a trip to India last winter break and let’s just say there was segregation amongst the black and white students...my roommate was one of the people who went on the trip, so I heard the whole thing. It’s funny hearing about people’s experiences with India because some had an incredible experience, but primarily, my black friends said there was times they would go to restaurants and people didn’t even know they were all in the same group because there was so much space between them at the tables. Anyway, that’s all I want to say about that. Now fast forward to last semester. We have a class called DMTM 2 that is designed basically (in my opinion) to weed people out to see who is ready for rotations or not. It’s a really hard class...lots of info and answers on exams are free response, so you basically need to know everything. In this class, we have to do presentations. She picks and chooses her favorites (very obviously) and one of her favorites was unlucky enough to have to present in front of the whole class. Now this girl is an airhead...putting it nicely. When we do presentations at this stage in the game, we have to have evidence from studies, so that means lots of stats. I KNOW this girl knows nothing about stats. But she did well on that portion of the presentation. And the entire time, she was only looking at the professor. It was obvious that these two had rehearsed this together...and we all knew it. Now when we do presentations, the facilitator always encourages questions from the audience. Once this girl was done with her presentations, the teacher went straight into asking her questions. We all just sat there and scratched our heads. Because this was clearly rehearsed too. When the audience got loud because we had questions, the dumbass couldn’t answer the questions we were asking, and the teacher was like, ‘this is a question for everyone’...UM NO? We all already did our presentations and answered our own questions. Anyway, I digress. But this was hella fucking annoying.

Once the capstone presentation was over, we had another presentation on professionalism. UGH HOW MANY FUCKING TIMES DO WE NEED THIS SAME SPEECH? After that, they wished us well and sent us on our ways. Big day tomorrow!
