Friday in the Isolation Cabin

I was scheduled on the DME side of the store again, and not gonna lie, I wasn’t looking forward to it. When I got there, the guy who was in charge told me the system was down and two of his staff had called out, so they were short-staffed. Basically, he said he didn’t really have time for me, so he told me to sit in the office and work on stuff. At that point, I had not finished my books for the week, so I did have things to do (not gonna lie, I also think I typed up 2-3 of these blog posts I was behind on). So I finished one book and moved onto the next one. I was just kind of in the mastectomy boutique sitting there reading. It was around 1pm and I was getting kind of antsy sitting there. So I asked the guy if the boss was coming that day and he said he wasn’t sure, so I asked if I could leave early. I usually don’t do that, but I could be reading at home. He said he would vouch for me if the boss came in telling him the system was down, so he sent me home. I went back to the lab to check on my schedule for the next week. I told her the situation, and she said to double check with the pharmacist up front before I left. I turned the corner to go see the pharmacist, and noticed the boss’ office lights were on. Shit. He must have showed up within the past 15 minutes. So I went to go grab water and heard behind me, “Monica, are we meeting today?” I’m sitting here thinking to myself, ‘well, YOU’RE the boss, so you tell me’, but I just said yes.

I went into his office after that and we discussed the books for the week. Now I never finished the second book, but based on the week before’s discussion, I kind of figured it would run the same way: a discussion, but he does most of the talking because he is the expert. I made it through. I just asked my questions while we went along and then when it came time to him asking if I had any questions, I didn’t have any others at that point. But he kind of got serious for a minute and asked me what I was hoping to get out of the rotation that I hadn’t gotten so far. That question kind of threw me for a loop because I really hadn’t thought of it. Initially, I signed up for this because I figured it would be an easy A. I mean, wouldn’t you? But I told him I needed to think about it and would get back to him. (It’s a week later when I’m writing this, and I still don’t know what I’m going to say if he asks me) Anyway, when we were through, I left to take the train so I could meet up with my friend and her hubby.

Well it kind of turned out to be a miscommunication, so I ended up staying home. My roommate and I actually ended up going out because we wanted margaritas, so we went to a Mexican restaurant close to the house. It was pretty good and the drinks were strong! I knew I couldn’t get wild, because I had to work the next day. She proposed we walk home...now she was wearing sneakers, while I wore sandals. It was over a mile home and I had to pee since before we left the restaurant. I almost didn’t make it. Once we got home, I literally passed out because I was tired from the walk home and long day, that I thought wasn’t going to be that long.
