Back to Life, Back to Reality

Sunday.

So that 3:30 am wake up call was rough, but I just made sure I had all of my things packed, then went to wake up my dad so he could drop me off at the airport. We live about 10 minutes away and boarding was at 4:50, but I needed to check a bag, so I wanted to leave the house a little early. I said goodbye to my mom and the cat, but man, these goodbyes to the dog are getting harder and harder. She is now 13 and she’s been declining over the last year. She’s still such a happy and loving girl, but it still breaks my heart. She has been such an amazing family member to us all. So I know she might not have heard me because her hearing is declining, but I whispered something to her that I really hope she heard.

Once we got to the airport, my dad dropped me off and then I got in the line to check a bag. I got to the airport at 4:12 am, and I saw that line and got really nervous! The line for the Delta gate was so long that I was thinking I wouldn’t make my flight! Historically, my flights at PBI are boarded at the FARTHEST gate away, and I knew I still had to go through TSA. So I was waiting in line for about 10-15 min, then the people in front of me went outside. I followed them and thank god because they finally opened up the curbside check-in. Come to find out, the inside desk opened up at 4:30! Once the bag was checked, I went to the TSA line. The guy working looked at my ticket and sent me in a long line. MY FLIGHT WAS BOARDING IN 20 MINUTES, so naturally, I was freaking out. Well guess what...my gate was C1! THANK GOD. So I made it in and on time. They were asking people to check their carry-on’s when we got to the gate, and I almost always do it if I already have another bag checked. So by doing this, I got to board early, which was nice. I don’t remember much about the flight because truthfully, I passed the hell out when I sat down. Next thing I knew, I was in Atlanta.

When I landed there, I still didn’t have a seat, so I rushed to my gate so I could get one and not jeopardize anything. The lady gave me a window seat in an exit row. BLESS HER. And it turned out to be one of those exit row seats with nobody in front of you, so ALL THE LEGROOM! But again...I passed right out. The only thing I remember is the chick next to me flinging her blanket all over the place and taking up the entire armrest (ughh). But since I had passed out, I had forgotten to turn my phone into airplane mode...oops! Then I felt a text message in my purse that was at my feet, and the message said something like, ‘we’re sorry, your luggage did not arrive as planned’. Fackkkkkk. That has never happened to me before. So I check my email when I landed officially and they said they had put my luggage on the next flight in. It wasn’t due to land for almost another 2 hours. When I went to see the customer service guy to really confirm this he was like, ‘well, do you live close by?’ UM NO, SIR, I DO NOT. So I really had to wait that extra almost 2 hours but the bag made it. I was finally ready to leave, so I called for an Uber. The chick outside working was REAL serious about her job and yelling a lot, then I finally was in my ride. Really nice driver who was driving for charity. And some guys from WI in the back. I just honestly wanted to be home, so once I got dropped off, I passed out in my bed for about 4 hours. I don’t remember much about what else happened, just know I showered and went to bed because I had to be at school for the next 3 days. Joy.
